We have history, birthdays, space shuttle splashdowns, and important immigrant arrivals

Many things happened on this date in history, April 17th:
It was April 17, 1970 that the Apollo 13 astronauts James A. Lovell, Fred W. Haise and Jack Swigert safely splashed down in the Pacific. This was only 4 days after a ruptured oxygen tank crippled their spacecraft while en route to the moon. I've always had a crush on Bill Paxton and Kevin Bacon; but, Tom Hanks really stole the scene.

It was April 17, 1969 that a jury in Los Angeles convicted Sirhan Sirhan of assassinating Senator Robert F. Kennedy. I just recently bought In Love With Night: The American Romance With Robert Kennedy, by Ronald Steel. Apparently his murder happened in a hotel hallway where weeks earlier someone had written "The Once and Future King". I will eventually get around to reading the book rather than perusing the book.

Verrazano Narrows Bridge, Approach to the City, New York, New York State, USA Photographic Poster Print by Ken Gillham, 18x24      It was April 17, 1524 that Giovanni da Verrazano reached the New York harbor. If you have never crossed this bridge, you have missed an experience. This bridge has a lot of  history and significance to the industrialization and progression of America. This was at one point the bridge of all bridges. The picture below doesn't really give the true engineering genius of the Verrazano bridge.

Today Victoria Adams Beckham, formerly of the Spice Girls is turning 36. She is married to the legendary soccer star known as Beckham. Although the Spice Girls have fizzled out, Spice World is over, Mrs. Beckham has grown into a pop icon once again, with or without her arms wrapped around her husband.  Victoria Beckham has written two autobiographies, That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels and Everything in Between and Learning to Fly: The Autobiography. David Beckham has also written a few books as well: Beckham: Both Feet on the Ground: An Autobiography and David Beckham: My Side: The Autobiography

Today Liz Phair, singer and song writer is turning 43. Most people my age grew up listening to her. For turning 43 she is still looking amazing though. You can find her on Myspace, Facebook, and many of the other social networking sites. Below are some of the tracks that you might recognize or fall in love with.

Quick comment about Lisa Scottoline and Lady Killer

I met Lisa Scottoline at the SW Florida Book festival. She has such a sweet and energized personality.  I still have to write up my book review and a critical summary of Lady Killer

Stay tuned for a chance to win a autographed copy of Lady Killer. Start following me now because there will be a chance to win free books or other items. To have the latest updates follow me on twitter too.

This was one of the first books that I read of Lisa's and I loved it. It was a smooth read and kept you at wonderment of the kidnapping and killing. I really found myself attached to the lead heroine, Mary the lawyer. She has a unique personality that shows she is more like me, a real person, than a fictional character in a book. I recommend this book as a summer read. Perhaps open up a bottle of wine and put on some music and just get lost in the book with the characters.

And don't forget to follow her on Facebook. I mean doesn't everyone check their Facebook page before they settle in from a hard day's work? Lisa's Personal Facebook Page

I might have to get in touch with Lisa though. Mary the heroine and the rest of the plot resides in Mobster filled Philly. As you can see in the picture it almost seemed like she cringed when I mentioned I was a Jersey girl, no I'm just kidding, Even though she had a long line of fans she made sure to make each an every one of us feel special.

However, I really would like to hear Lisa pull out her best Philly accent and I will try with my Jersey/New York accent. LOL. She writes about Jersey and some of the Jersey girls. I'm a Jersey girl!!!!!! LOL. Perhaps she will have to put me into one of her future books as a Jersey girl that she has as an assistant. LOL.
